Faculty “A” Permits – Current Faculty
Faculty “A” Permit
Who is eligible
UCSB faculty and members of Managers & Senior Professionals (MSP) are eligible to obtain a faculty A permit. Employees requesting “A” permits will have their status verified via the Personnel Payroll System (PPS). Employees not appearing in PPS, or employees without the proper title code, will need to provide documentation of their eligibility from their department chair or director.

Where to park
An A permit allows you to park in the lots and structures designated for faculty (see Faculty & Staff Parking for locations), including spaces within the lots/structures marked “Faculty At All Times”.

The permit is valid in student lots (see Visitor & Student Parking for locations), and for parking in time-restricted parking spaces for the time designated.

The permit is not valid where restrictions apply — for example, reserved or metered spaces, or lots/spaces marked for vendors or “RS” permit holders. The permit is not valid in Coastal Access spaces on weekdays, Monday–Friday 7:30AM–5:00PM. The permit is not valid in the off-campus parking facilities operated by Housing & Residential Services.❖

How to apply
Apply for a permit online by clicking Buy your parking permit HERE . You will be asked to select an employment status and provide your employee ID number. Once your application is approved, you will receive an email with instructions for completing the order. Once payment is accepted, you can print a temporary permit for your exclusive use until you receive a long-term permit.

Your long-term permit will be mailed to the address listed on your application.

Visit us at Parking Services if you need assistance placing an order or if you do not receive your long-term permit by the time your temporary permit expires. Vehicles parked on campus displaying expired permits are subject to citation.

When to renew
Multi-year and annual permits expire at the end of the fiscal year on June 30. Quarterly permits expire at the end of an academic quarter. Renew your permit before it expires by logging onto your online account.

Multi-year permit holders are sent an email reminder thirty days before the three-year expiration date, with a link to go online. Click here for step-by-step instructions on renewing your multi-year permit.

Price and payment options
  • $450 for an annual permit, July through June.
  • $118 for a quarterly permit. The beginning and end dates of quarters correspond to the UCSB Registrar’s Academic Calendar.
  • $56 for a 30-day permit, sold exclusively at the Parking Services Sales Office.
  • $37.50 monthly for a multi-year permit, payable only through Payroll Deduction. The cost per year of a multi-year permit ($450) is equivalent to an annual permit. Click here to learn more about our Payroll Deduction policy.
TPS accepts payment for an annual or quarterly permit by cash, debit/credit card or check, in the full amount. If you pay by payroll deduction, you will have $37.50 deducted from your monthly paycheck until such time as the permit is returned to Parking Services.

An annual or quarterly permit purchased after the start of the permit period is prorated and the appropriate fee charged for the remainder of the period.

Permit returns and refunds
Annual permits that are not being used must be returned to Parking Services to qualify for a refund. See here for more information about our permit return policy.
