Student Main Campus Residence Permits
RS Permits Students who reside in UCSB main campus residence halls have three permit options:
  • RS2 is valid in 2 Parking. 2 Parking is within the quadrangle formed by Santa Rosa Hall, Anacapa Hall, Santa Cruz Hall and De La Guerra Dining Commons.
  • 22RS is valid on any level of 22 Parking.
  • RS38 is valid in 38 Parking near Harder Stadium.
Quick access to topics below:
When & where else may I park?
From 7:30AM to 5:00PM Monday–Friday, the permit is valid for parking only at the site designated by your permit.

After-hours and on weekends, the permit gives you the same parking privileges as a Night & Weekend permit. You are allowed to park at these times (and only at these times) in the lots and spaces allocated to visitors/students and also the ones allocated to faculty/staff.

Parking is allowed in time-restricted parking spaces for the time designated, but only after-hours and on weekends.

The permit is not valid in lots, areas, and spaces marked “At All Times” or where other restrictions apply — for example, Coastal Access, reserved, metered or vendor spaces. RS permits are not interchangeable; a “RS38” permit, for example, does not entitle you to park in a lot or structure designated for “RS2” or “22RS” permits. RS permits are not valid in the off-campus parking facilities operated by Housing & Residential Services.❖

Am I eligible?
You are eligible for a RS permit as long as you reside in one of the UCSB main campus residence halls: Anacapa, Manzanita Village, San Miguel, San Nicolas, San Rafael, Santa Cruz or Santa Rosa. Should you move to a location other than these residence halls, you must return the permit immediately to Parking Services. Continued use of an invalid permit results in costly parking citations and revocation of campus parking privileges.

Permits for parking at off-campus residence hall Santa Catalina are issued by Housing & Residential Services. Please contact their office for rates and permit information.

How do I apply?
Apply for your permit online by clicking Buy your parking permit HERE . You will receive an email once your application has been approved. Follow the instructions in the email to complete your order and print a temporary permit.

A long-term permit will be mailed to the address listed on your application.

Is renewal automatic?
Renewal is not automatic. To maintain your parking privileges, log into your online account and place a new permit order. Click Buy your parking permit HERE to begin the order.

What are my price and payment options?
This table compares the cost of the three RS permits when purchased for a nine-month academic school year (Fall, Winter and Spring quarters).
Type Permit Parking Location Spaces Cost
RS2 2 Parking, within residence hall quadrangle 101 $648
22RS 22 Parking, on any level 202 $486
RS38 38 Parking, near Harder Stadium 475 $324

You may choose to pay by cash, debit/credit card, or check. Please be advised that the quantity of each permit type is limited. Permits are issued on a first-come, first-served basis.

A permit purchased during the school year is prorated and the appropriate fee charged for the remainder of the year.

Permit returns and refunds
Annual permits that are not being used must be returned to Parking Services to qualify for a refund. See here for more information about our permit return policy.
