Faculty “A” Permits – Emeriti

Who is eligible

Emeriti faculty who are not on pay status are eligible to obtain an emeriti A permit. The Emeriti/Retirees Center provides the TPS office with a list of eligible emeriti. Please enjoy the privilege accorded to you by your complimentary parking permit.

Any Emeritus professors who return to payroll status — however long or short the duration — will be required to pay for parking. The emeriti A permit will no longer be valid, and must be returned to TPS.

The emeriti A permit is issued exclusively to qualified applicants. It may NOT be transferred to any other person for temporary or long-term use.

Where to park

Emeriti Faculty “A” Permit

An emeriti A permit accords the same parking privileges as a faculty A permit; you are allowed to park in the lots and structures designated for faculty, including spaces within the lots/structures marked “Faculty At All Times”.

The permit is valid in student lots, and for parking in time-restricted parking spaces for the time designated.

The permit is NOT valid where restrictions apply — for example, "R" Reserved spaces, Restricted spaces, Service spaces, VENDOR spaces, metered spaces (without paying the meter), or "H23" spaces. The permit is NOT valid in Coastal Access spaces or "GOLD" spaces on weekdays, Monday–Friday 7:30AM–5:00PM. The permit is NOT valid in Lot 2 or in the off-campus parking facilities operated by Housing & Residential Services.

How to apply

Please visit the Parking Services office. You will be asked to present your Emeriti/Retirees membership card.

When to renew

Before or after your permit expires, please visit the Parking Services office.

  • Parking permits are granted for the purpose of transportation to and from campus. Garaging (storing) your vehicle on campus is prohibited unless you are an "H" or "IVA" permit holder in the assigned parking lot.
  • Parking permits are issued solely by Parking Services and are assigned after verification of eligibility.
  • Permits remain the property of UCSB and are assigned to individuals.  They are not transferable between friends or family members.
  • Permits are issued when the applicant has paid the required fee, resolved all delinquent parking citations and provided proof of eligibility.
  • Failure to provide and maintain accurate information on the parking permit application may result in citation, fine, the loss of parking privileges and referral to the Campus Police or the Dean of Students for disciplinary action.
  • Decal type permits must be attached to the lower left hand (driver's) side of the windshield with the adhesive provided on the decal and without the use of tape, plastic sleeve or hang tag (unless originally issued in that format).  Please remove all expired permits from your windshield to avoid citation.
